Vietnam has launched a nationwide campaign to strengthen support for people who made significant contributions to the country, including war veterans, families of fallen soldiers, and other beneficiaries, ahead of the 79th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs’ Day. Speaking at the national conference in Hà Nội, Prime Minister Lê Minh Hưng reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to improving welfare policies and honoring those who sacrificed for national independence.
The Government announced continued reforms to expand benefits for eligible recipients, including an 8% increase in standard monthly allowances from July 2026 and intensified efforts to locate and identify the remains of missing martyrs. Authorities also highlighted the success of the nationwide “Paying Gratitude” movement, which has funded thousands of gratitude houses, home repairs, and financial assistance programs for beneficiaries in recent years.
Prime Minister Hưng acknowledged that many martyrs remain unidentified and emphasized the need to accelerate search and identification efforts while improving living conditions for veterans, Agent Orange victims, and families of fallen soldiers. The campaign also encourages businesses, organizations, overseas Vietnamese, and the public to contribute to programs supporting people with meritorious service, reinforcing Vietnam’s long-standing commitment to gratitude, social welfare, and national unity.
