A Russian naval visit to Vietnam began on Sunday as a Russian naval flotilla arrived at Cam Ranh International Port in Khánh Hòa Province. The four-day visit is part of ongoing defense cooperation between Vietnam and Russia and is expected to strengthen military ties between the two countries.
The flotilla entered Cam Ranh International Port under the leadership of Colonel Limonov Evgeny Nikolaevich. The visiting delegation includes Russian naval officers and sailors who will take part in official meetings, cultural activities, and professional exchanges during their stay.
The Russian delegation received an official welcome from Colonel Nguyễn Hải Châu, Deputy Chief of Staff of Naval Region 4. Representatives from Vietnam’s Ministry of National Defense, the Vietnam People’s Navy, the Khánh Hòa Provincial Military Command, and Army Corps 20 also attended the reception ceremony.
Officials said the visit reflects the continued implementation of defense cooperation agreements between Vietnam and Russia. It also supports the outcomes of the official visit to Russia by General Phan Văn Giang, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence, earlier this year.
Defense cooperation has remained an important part of the relationship between the two countries for many years. Military exchanges, naval visits, and joint activities continue to support communication and cooperation between both armed forces.
During their stay in Vietnam, members of the Russian naval delegation will hold several official activities. These include a courtesy visit to the Naval Region 4 Command, where military leaders are expected to discuss cooperation and strengthen professional ties.
The delegation will also attend a memorial ceremony to honor Soviet, Russian, and Vietnamese service members who lost their lives while contributing to peace and stability in the region. The wreath-laying event recognizes the shared history and long-standing relationship between the two countries.
Another key part of the visit includes exchanges between Russian naval personnel and officers and sailors from Vietnam’s Naval Region 4. These meetings will provide opportunities to share professional experiences and strengthen cooperation between the two navies.
In addition to official defense activities, the visiting delegation will explore several cultural and historical sites across Khánh Hòa Province. The program is designed to promote cultural understanding and strengthen people-to-people connections alongside military cooperation.
