Vietnam’s swimming team delivered an impressive performance at the 2026 Asian Age Groups Swimming Championships in Thailand, securing 14 gold medals and finishing fourth overall in the medal standings. Standout swimmer Trần Văn Nguyễn Quốc led the campaign with five gold medals, including victories in the 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m and 1,500m freestyle events. He also set a new tournament record in the 400m freestyle, breaking a mark that had stood since 2009.
Nguyễn Khả Nhi added two gold medals after claiming the girls’ 800m and 1,500m freestyle titles, producing a dominant performance in the longer event. Other notable contributors included Nguyễn Thúy Hiền, who won three gold medals and set a new national record, while Dương Văn Hoàng Quy, Phan Quốc Khánh, Lê Thị Thùy Trang and Nguyễn Ngọc Thủy Tiên each earned one gold medal.
China topped the overall medal table with 35 gold medals, followed by Japan with 23, while Hong Kong (China) finished third. Although Vietnam collected the same number of gold medals as Hong Kong, the team placed fourth due to earning fewer silver medals.
