Hanoi is preparing a major celebration for Vietnam Culture Day 2026, with a large evening show expected to attract around 50,000 people to My Dinh National Stadium on November 24. The event will bring together music, traditional performances and fireworks to showcase the country’s cultural diversity.
The plans were presented at a conference held by the Hanoi Party Committee’s Commission for Publicity on November 6. Nguyen Thi Mai Huong, Deputy Director of the city’s Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, outlined the programme and its main activities.
The stadium show will begin at 8 p.m. and last no more than two hours. It will be broadcast live on VTV1, allowing people across Vietnam to watch the celebration. The programme will feature performances representing different regions and ethnic communities, with Thang Long-Hanoi culture serving as a central theme.
The celebration will not be limited to the stadium. Hanoi will also organise cultural events around Hoan Kiem Lake from November 21 to 24. Organisers expect the opening activities on November 21 and 22 to attract more than 30,000 visitors.
A major highlight will be a heritage parade on November 21. It will bring together around 2,300 artisans and residents from 48 communes and wards, along with artists, athletes and students. Visitors will also be able to enjoy traditional Vietnamese performances, including cheo opera, cai luong theatre, drama, puppetry and circus shows.
The city is also preparing five exhibition and experience spaces in central Hanoi. These will highlight traditional craft villages, the history of the capital and the country’s cultural development. Some locations will use digital technology, virtual reality and augmented reality to help visitors explore cultural displays in new ways.
Activities will extend beyond the city centre. All 126 communes and wards in Hanoi have prepared plans for local cultural or sports events. The city has also connected 71 traditional festivals taking place in November with the wider celebration.
The programme aims to make Vietnam Culture Day an important annual event. By bringing together traditional heritage, modern performances and public activities, Hanoi hopes to encourage greater interest in Vietnamese culture among residents and international visitors.
