Vietnam has launched a new digital platform designed to help residents and visitors discover cultural activities, heritage sites and tourism experiences across the country. The Vietnam Culture Digital Map Platform, known as CMAP, was introduced in Hanoi on 1 November and reported on Monday, 2 November. The initiative aims to make cultural information easier to access through a single online system.
Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Lam Thi Phuong Thanh said the platform would help people find activities based on location, time and interest. Users will be able to search for museums, festivals, theatres, traditional craft villages and other cultural destinations before choosing places to visit with family and friends.
The platform is available online and is intended to cover cultural resources across all 34 provinces and cities. It will provide information about heritage locations, sporting facilities, cultural events and tourism activities. Organisers say the system will also offer real-time updates about performances, traditional festivals and community events.
The project is designed to encourage younger generations to explore Vietnamese culture. By making information easier to find, officials hope more people will visit historic sites, attend performances and learn about traditional crafts. The platform may also help local artists and artisans reach new audiences.
The digital map is expected to support tourism businesses as well. Hotels, tour operators and cultural organisations can use the information to understand visitor interests and identify opportunities for new services. Local authorities may also use the platform to improve planning and manage cultural resources.
At the time of the launch, the system had listed 391 events across the country’s provinces and cities. Cultural institutions under the ministry had also announced dozens of activities connected with Vietnam Culture Day later in November.
The launch took place alongside a digital art programme at Hanoi’s Temple of Literature, one of the country’s most important historical sites. The event showed how modern technology can be combined with traditional heritage to create new visitor experiences.
The initiative reflects Vietnam’s wider effort to modernise cultural services while protecting its history. If regularly updated and widely used, the platform could make cultural activities more accessible and help connect local communities with the country’s heritage.
