The 2026 HDBank National Futsal Cup got underway this weekend at Lanh Binh Thang Gymnasium in Ho Chi Minh City, marking the tenth consecutive year that national broadcaster Voice of Vietnam has partnered with the Vietnam Football Federation to organize the country’s premier indoor football tournament. This year’s tournament features Thai Son Nam Ho Chi Minh City, Thai Son Bac, Sahako, Hanoi, Tan Hiep Hung Ho Chi Minh City, Saigon Titans, Luxury Ha Long, and a youth squad representing Ho Chi Minh City. The eight teams have been divided into two groups, with each side playing a single round robin within their group before the top two finishers from each group advance to a knockout semifinal stage to determine the eventual champion.
The tournament carries particular symbolic weight this year, marking a full decade since Voice of Vietnam first partnered with the football federation to organize the national futsal cup system. Vu Hai Quang, Deputy Director General of Voice of Vietnam, emphasized the broadcaster’s decade long commitment to supporting the sport’s growth in the country. He described the partnership as a patient, sustained effort to build the foundation needed for Vietnamese futsal to develop over the long term, leveraging the organization’s multimedia capabilities across radio, television, online platforms, and digital channels to bring the sport closer to both domestic and international audiences.
The competition comes on the heels of an eventful season for Vietnamese futsal, with Thai Son Bac having claimed the national championship title back in July after ending a sixteen year wait for their first league crown. That victory, secured with a commanding win in the final round of the regular league season, added fresh motivation heading into this cup competition, as the club looks to add another trophy to what has already been a landmark year for the organization.
Organizers have structured this year’s tournament with an appealing prize package, with the eventual champion set to receive a trophy alongside two hundred million Vietnamese dong in prize money.
