People-to-people diplomacy remains a key driver of Vietnam’s international engagement, helping strengthen trust, cultural understanding, and long-term cooperation beyond the reach of traditional diplomatic channels. Ahead of the upcoming National Diplomatic Conference, Deputy Foreign Minister Ngô Lê Văn emphasized the importance of modernizing this approach to support Vietnam’s growing role on the global stage.
According to Văn, people-to-people diplomacy has played a significant role throughout Vietnam’s history by expanding international partnerships, promoting national development, and enhancing the country’s global image. As digital technology, artificial intelligence, and social media reshape international communication, he said Vietnam must adopt more innovative and strategic methods to engage global audiences effectively.
The deputy minister outlined six priorities for the future, including raising public awareness, aligning diplomatic initiatives with national development goals, expanding international partnership networks, strengthening digital diplomacy, improving performance evaluation, and enhancing coordination between Party, State, and people-to-people diplomacy.
He stressed that future efforts should support cooperation in trade, investment, science, technology, education, culture, innovation, and green development while reinforcing Vietnam’s international reputation. By embracing strategic reforms and stronger global collaboration, Vietnam aims to build lasting friendships, increase its soft power, and create a more effective and modern diplomatic framework for sustainable national development.
